From May 19-21, 2023 it got loud over Neustadt-Glewe. Skydive MV has invited to the first event of the new season. The ISSA (International Speed Skydiving Association) organizes the ISSA World Series annually. A competition series of 5 competitions, where the fastest two competitions count towards the overall standings. Due to the upcoming NATO exercise in German airspace, the competition had to be postponed at short notice.
As a result, many international participants were unfortunately unable to take part. The German national team took the opportunity and embedded the competition directly into their training camp. With the professional support of mental trainer Markus Bauchrowitz, the exercises and hidden insights could be applied directly in the competition. Toni Schmid and Thorsten Morhaus showed strong developments here, who started with difficulties and were able to achieve a strong turnaround through consistent work. The team was also able to welcome acrobat Marlene Kiepke, who will enrich the team from now on.
For the youngsters in the team, it was a very good start to the season with the first quick jumps and personal bests. Linus Eckenigk and Lukas Winnecker, both of whom will also represent the German team at the European Championships in the Czech Republic. Also new in the race is (Para)Peter Talkovski with his strong 3rd place and a personal best of 461.12 km/h at round 5.
Victory went to Marco Hepp with the fastest lap of 512.70 km/h. Especially at the start of the season, it was important to build on the performance of the previous year and there is still a lot to do. Thus, the next competitions of the ISSA World Series will be a good opportunity to prepare optimally for the European Championships. Many thanks goes to the great organization of the Skydive-MV, which guaranteed a smooth process, and Total Energies, who made the training camp possible with their generous support.
